Mario Kart World

  • Went into this game fully being comfortable with knowing that Mario Kart 8 will likely never be surpassed. I simply just wanted a new Mario Kart after 11 years of MK8. And I was right, it definitely is not going to be surpassed any time soon
  • Hate intermissions. Fun idea that could be implemented sparingly or in a separate mode but to essentially ruin Grand Prix mode is frustrating. I assume this will be remedied at some point in the future but who knows. All I wanna do is race
  • Some of these tracks, especially the intermissions portions, are laughably wide. It's a cheap way to bunch the whole field up and the sense of speed is sorely lacking
  • Free roam mode, while a little under cooked, is a lot of fun. Some of the missions are extremely basic (collect 8 coins before time runs out) while some of them can be really surprising. There are genuine moments of discovery in free roam that I'm still having fun...discovering
  • The costumes are a fun idea, just wish there was more unique ones among characters such as the vampire outfit only being for Waluigi
  • Sure feels like where you place in a lot of races, especially online with real people, comes down to what items you happen to get on the final or final two item box chances. Mushrooms feel like the best item you can get
  • I don't feel as rewarded for racing well as I have in the past. I'm all for the AI being tough in 150cc (please give us 200cc someday) but this doesn't feel like it's them being good as much as me feeling limited from being Fast and Furious. Drifting hardly gives you the boost you'd expect.
  • Get these stupid fucking baby characters outta here - I'M GOOD
  • Shockingly small amount of original music in the game. However the music IS great, all the remixes are amazing. I was just looking forward to more original stuff
  • Wish there was more original tracks as well
  • I sound negative because I'm a huge Mario Kart fan. It's still a great game. I still get excited every single day to play it. Every kid is going to love it. I still look forward to playing it for a very long time. 11 years though? I'm not sure about that

Spider-Man Remastered

  • Gift for Father's Day - cool wife alert!
  • Having played the second game first, it was fun to see how this game's story set up the sequel
  • As was true in 2, traversing the city is so much fun
  • Combat is great and the huge amount gadgets you get are all actually pretty fun and useful
  • Big surprise: fucking love throwing and kicking dudes off of buildings

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

  • Like I've said before, fuckin' love exclamation points in game titles
  • A game I've played on a few occasions in a multiplayer capacity but not much in terms of single player. With it being such a unique entry in the series I always struggled to get a grip with the handling of the karts and the character combos/special items. That being said I decided to give it a proper shot and found myself really enjoying it. It's definitely still not my favorite MK but I can see why people like it a lot.
  • Some good music but overall I felt the game was lacking in this area
  • Cool tracks, with a lot of the best ones already remade on MK8
  • I wish other MK's had an All Cup grand prix like this one does

Split Fiction

  • Nintendo-level of pure fun and enjoyment nearly the entire time
  • Most puzzles had the difficulty just right and were fun to solve together
  • Boss fights were all a lot of fun too. I just really like having fun
  • ZOEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Magical Chase (GBC)

Played a translated rom of this game as it was a JP only release
  • Light and breezy shmup/cute 'em up which I tend to like since I'm not good enough/have the patience to learn enemy patterns in most shmups
  • It was fun using the shop to power up my ship, I mean broomstick
  • Genuinely impressive visuals and performance from a GBC game
  • Cool bosses
  • Sleeping baby

Operation C

  • A legit-ass Contra game on Gameboy. Really wish I had this back when I was a kid
  • Hilariously bad jump

Kirby's Dream Land 2

  • Really fun and a big improvement over the original. Tons of creativity packed into a little tiny bitch ass cartridge
  • Was pleasantly surprised by the difficulty in some sections
  • Is Rick the greatest character in the entire history of video games? Yes.

Batman (Gameboy)

  • Fun little game. Had way more power ups and weapons than I expected
  • Hilarious difficulty spike in final level before final boss. I'm typically not one to use save states in the middle of levels but I made an exception for this one
  • Cool shmup levels, probably inspired by Super Mario Land if I had to guess
  • Forgot to take a picture of the ending on my Miyoo. I'm really sorry

TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan

  • Randomly decided to play this among a few other old GB games since they are short and sweet
  • A surprisingly decent game. I had fun with the 30 minutes I played
  • Great music, especially on a Gameboy. Come to find out it was all made by Michiru Yamane so that checks out
  • First game I beat with my baby in my lap

Final Fantasy XVI

  • Huge update for 2025: No longer putting Completed in my titles.
  • I loved this game a lot and how much of a spectacle it is. Being in awe at times at some of the boss battles and cutscenes reminded me of being a kid and being blown away by the graphics in the PS1 FF titles
  • Found myself surprisingly very into the story. Some pretty cool characters
  • The combat feels amazing and the boss fights are dope as hell
  • Definitely has some pacing issues/dips in the action. Weak side quests
